Todd left school in 1991 with no GCSEs and went straight into full-time work as a lifeguard at his local leisure centre. Through hard work and determination, he progressed to Assistant Manager, overseeing two sites before making a career move in 2000.

In October that year, Todd joined The APC on a three-month peak contract. More than 25 years later, he’s still here and has been part of an incredible journey.
When Todd started, the business was processing around 8,000 parcels a night. He has seen The APC grow through site moves from Bentley to Essington and then Cannock, with the hub now processing up to 200,000 during peak periods.
What Todd enjoys most is that no two nights are ever the same. From weather disruption and road delays to machinery breakdowns and staffing challenges, every shift brings something different and keeps the job exciting.
Over the years, The APC has become more than just a workplace. Long-serving colleagues who worked alongside Todd when he first joined in 2000 are still part of the team today, creating a real family atmosphere. Without formal qualifications, Todd has built his career through in-house training, experience and a willingness to learn.
His story is a reminder that opportunities are there for those prepared to work hard and make the most of them.
“If I can do it, you can do it.”
